ITR-RESCUE is part of the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) and its IT infrastructure is provided by Responsphere

Emergency management and disaster drills provide a unique outreach and educational opportunity to the RESCUE project. The drills serve as a “living lab”, allowing for hands on experience in crisis management along with the ability to test and apply technological solutions developed by researchers. In addition, the “living lab” is mutually beneficial to all of RESCUE's collaborators, providing a natural conduit for technology transfer as well as a mechanism for them to influence our planned research, as illustrated below

Drills:

November 21, 2005 - RESCUE researchers participate in a six-hour disaster WIISARD disaster drill at UCSD that simulated the aftermath of a car bomb attack and accidental release of lethal chemicals.

May 14, 2005 - In collaboration with Responsphere, the RESCUE team observed the drill presented at the Second Annual Southern California Emergency Medicine Conference.

March 22, 2005 - UCSD Hazardous Materials Drill. The purpose was to learn about first responder communication patterns and understand gaps that may be filled with the help of collaborative tools.

March 21, 2005 - UCI Hazardous Materials and Building Evacuation Drill. In cooperation with the Orange County Fire Department, UCI Campus Search and Rescue, and the UCI Environmental Health and Safety, the RESCUE team instrumented the entire space with Wi-Fi and then streamed audio, video, and pictures back to the Emergency Operations Center.

March 14, 2005 - In collaboration with Responsphere, RESCUE participated in a UCI Environmental Health and Safety Drill.

November 17, 2004 - In collaboration with the Wireless Internet Information System for Medical Response in Disasters (WIISARD) project, RESCUE team members participated in a small-scale drill/presentation of the San Diego Metro politan Medical Strke Team (MMST).

October 13, 2004 - RESCUE, in collaboration with Responsphere, attended the Cal State Long Beach Evacuation Drill.

August, 2004 - RESCUE researchers were observers in Determined Promise 2004, a tri-coastal domestic anti-terrorism exercise sponsored by the U.S. Northern Command.
